Mildred’s Momentum

The Spirit Behind the Foundation:

Always looking for new ways to grow community

Mildred’s Dream Foundation has always been driven by one belief: when someone needs help, we step forward together. That is the world Millie believe in – a world where compassion isn’t passive, it’s active.

Millie often used gardening as a metaphor for life. You plant seeds. You nurture them. You show up consistently. And over time, something beautiful grows. She led with kindness generosity, and unwavering conviction that we are responsible for one another.

MDF was created to honor that spirit – not just as a grant-maker, but as a gathering place. Since our founding, we have supported over 250 organizations and awarded more than 60 grants this past year – always looking for new ways to depend the community we tend together.

A grant is just the beginning

Community is what we’re really building.

Mildred’s Momentum is our new initiative to give our nonprofit partners a clear community so that being a part of our network means something beyond the grant itself.

Ways To Participate

Four Ways to Build Momentum Together

Mildred’s Momentum gives our grantee community a tangible way to stay connected, collaborate, and show up for one another.

It’s how we track that community and celebrate it. Participate in any of the activities below to be part of the Momentum.

Grantee Celebration

Send a representative to our Grantee Celebration event. This is a chance to connect face-to-face with fellow grantees, share your mission, and celebrate the work we do together. Next year’s event is on Saturday, November 7, 2026 for our 2026 selected charities.

Join us for one of MDF’s signature fundraising events for an evening of inspiration, community, and connection. Your presence strengthens the entire network and allows you to meet other charities and MDF’s supporters. Next year’s event is on Saturday, April 3, 2027.

Nominate someone who has made a meaningful difference as a mentor in your community. This award honors the spirit of guidance, generosity, and dedication that Millie herself embodied

partner with a fellow MDF grantee on a program, event, or initiative. This is the heart of Mildred’s Momentum – two missions combining to reach more people than either could alone

A Stronger Network Benefits Every Mission

Mildred’s Momentum is designed to be more than a set of activities—it’s an opportunity to stay meaningfully connected to a community that continues to grow alongside you.

Participation helps strengthen your organization’s presence within the MDF network and can support your future grant application in upcoming cycles. It offers a way to demonstrate ongoing engagement, collaboration, and commitment to shared impact.

Beyond that, it creates space to build relationships with fellow nonprofits—opening the door to partnerships, shared ideas, and new ways to serve your communities together. Many of the most impactful moments happen when organizations connect, learn from one another, and collaborate in ways that wouldn’t happen alone.

Whether you attend an event, partner on an initiative, or simply stay engaged, your participation helps shape a more connected and supportive network for everyone involved.

Our 2026 Goal

In 2026, Mildred’s Dream Foundation aims for 25% of grantees from the previous three years to participate in at least two collaborative activities. Together, we deepened community ties and amplify every mission in the network.

Why It Matters

What Collaboration Unlocks

When Mildred’s Dream Foundation grantees connect, the benefits ripple far beyond the organizations themselves.

Expanded Reach Partner organizations share audiences, extending every campaign’s reach, and introducing new supporters to each mission.

Richer Storytelling collaboration creates more compelling narratives. Donors see real, living proof that their support creates a connected community of impact.

Deeper Donor Confidence When nonprofits lift each other up, donors invest with greater confidence by knowing their dollars are multiplied across a thriving network
